NWPC Honors Davidson Co. Property Assessor Jo Ann North

The Nashville Women’s Political Caucus (NWPC) will hold a reception honoring Davidson Co. Property Assessor Jo Ann North, from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30p.m., Feb. 26, at Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis Conference Center, 511 Union Street, 27th Floor.

Ms. North has a long tenure in public service in the Nashville/Davidson Co. area.  A former Limited Constitutional Convention Delegate of the State of Tennessee in 1977, she was the first female At-Large member of the Nashville-Davidson Co. Metropolitan Council in 1979.

Another career highlight was her At-Large re-election to the Nashville-Davidson Co. Metropolitan Council with the greatest number of popular votes, in 1983 and 1987.

A member of the Democratic Party, Ms. North was a member of the Democratic National Platform Committee for 1980, 1984 and 1996.

She was a member of the Democratic National Platform Draft Committee, in 1984; and a member of the Democratic National Rules Committee, in 1988.

She was selected as the Democratic nominee by the Davidson Co. Executive Committee to represent them in the General Election, in 1992.

Locally, Ms. North was appointed in 1992 as Metropolitan Assessor of Property for Nashville/Davidson Co., serving four terms.

She is a graduate of Tennessee State University and is married to attorney Steve North. They have three children and six grandchildren.
