On Tuesday, February 26, at 10:30 AM in Room 16 of the Legislative Plaza, SJR127 will be heard in the House Public Health and Family Assistance Subcommittee of Health and Human Resources. This proposed constitutional amendment would add a new provision to Article I to provide that nothing in Constitution of Tennessee secures or protects right to abortion or requires the funding of an abortion. This proposed amendment makes no provisions to protect the victims of rape and incest or to protect a woman whose life or health is at risk.

SB1363 Haynes/HB1256 Moore - Tennessee Voter Confidence Act of 2007. Requires that the ballot of record for any voting machine purchased or leased with federal, state, or local funds be a paper ballot marked by the voter, with appropriate accommodations for voters with disabilities. Requires that the ballot of record be available to the voter to verify the voter's vote and be used in any recounts or random samplings for accuracy; requires that secrecy of voter's vote be maintained. Provides for implementation by 2010, but allows earlier implementation.
SB3717 Tate/HB2964 Hardaway - Would require mandatory paternity testing before a father can be listed on a birth certificate. This bill was rolled in the House subcommittee Public Health and Family Assistance of Health and Human Resources to March 5th, 12:30 in LP29.
